Gravel is the workhorse of the high-desert yard — but there's a right way, and every ABQ neighborhood has examples of the wrong way: thin rock over bare dirt, weeds through by June, dirt showing by fall.

Done right

Ground leveled and cleared · commercial-grade woven weed barrier (not the big-box film that shreds) · rock at proper depth — 2–3 inches minimum · clean transitions and edges. From $1.75–$3.00 per square foot installed depending on rock choice and access; top-dressing existing gravel runs less.

Santa Fe brown, buckskin, and gray gravels in multiple sizes · decorative cobble and boulder accents · crusher fines for paths and seating areas · rip-rap for drainage and erosion control on slopes and arroyodetail edges.

Monsoon rain moves fast on our soil. We grade rock work away from foundations and can build simple swales and rock channels that turn a flooding problem into a feature.
